Social Justice
Sixth semester, I volunteered at Child Haven which is a foster care facility in Las Vegas for children of all ages. Many of the children
live at Child Haven while they wait for adoption or other circumstantial
reasons. The facility offers plenty of
play area, food, shelter, support staff, and so much more. My peer and I were given the opportunity to play with the much younger age children in the playground
for an afternoon. Some of the children displayed behavioral, intellectual, and
cognitive disabilities allowing us the opportunity to offer occupational-based play. We encouraged group play and continued to provide the children the necessary attention they needed to grow and develop. I hope my participation contributed to their development while providing essential attention and compassion for my services.
